My name is Ursula and I am a Printmaker and Illustrator based in Edinburgh.
Little Axe is the name I chose for my illustration and print practice, a small business making handmade products.

I make designs using drawing, printmaking and digital imaging and output my work to a range of surfaces including paper, textiles, wall paper and vinyls. Preserving the drawn line and printed mark is important to me as it keeps the work grounded in traditional art-making techniques.

When I was 18 I went to Glasgow School of Art to study fine art and then later in life I did an MA in Illustration at The University of Edinburgh. Both were enriching expansive experiences that made me want to continue working as an artist.

My inspiration comes from so many places, but mostly from nature, plants, animals, people, the city scape and my garden.

Over the last 5 years I have worked on commissions for public spaces within healthcare, the hospitality sector and publishing. I approach each commission from a socially engaged perspective with both client and community involvement throughout.
I also make lots of handmade pieces for my shop over on Etsy
(please visit if you have time).
